Left Behind

I’ve been very busy having a pity party for myself. As mentioned before, Mags and Dr. Shifty are heading to Little Rock at the end of the month. This is wonderful news for them and a great move for Dr. Shifty’s career. This news is just the WORST for me. To compound that news, it turns out we might be losing Marty and Calyn too within the next couple of months and Rachel, my bestest friend at work, will be leaving for a new job in August. But don’t worry, I’ve been feeling very bad for myself.  The new joke around our friend group is that if you become close to RP and me, you’ll end up moving to a new state.

So, enough about me. Saturday was all about Mags and Dr. Shifty. I’ll let her do the official recap, but I wanted to share some photos from the evening. We had a great night! Over 20 people came out to fete the Shiftys and eat delicious German food and drink big beers. You can see the bar tab picture towards the end of the night. We did a lot of damage! I spent a few moments during the evening crying big ugly tears, but lucky that didn’t make it on camera.

The best thing about writing this post is knowing that I’m not saying “goodbye.” I expect to continue our daily g-chats, continue sharing this blog of fanciness, continue cursing Lands End Canvas and Lilly Pulitzer for tempting us via email every day and to see you two crazy kids really soon. I’ve never been to Arkansas and I can’t think of a better reason to go now. Let’s take more pictures like this and track down SugarBears shirts!

Mags, I miss you already!

  1. Goodbyes are the hardest! I completely understand “left behind” as some of my few friends in Madrid have moved… such is the expat life. I know one day soon I will be the mover. But you are right – there is g-chat and other forms of technology that keep up connected. THANK GOD! :)

    • Amen! Thank goodness for technology! I can’t imagine dealing with friends leaving knowing that we’d have to write letters and hope that we could get to a phone every couple of months to talk to each other!

It was such a fantastic evening! I can make room in my luggage for you to stow away with Manny, TOF and Ellie May!
