A Tale of Two Hounds

Since Tuesday night, we’ve had a very special visitor at the Chateau Relaxo, Miss Gracie Belle. Gracie is Marty and Calyn’s beautiful basset hound. Her parents are off house hunting in Wisconsin, so we get double the hound and double the fun!

Manny and Gracie met at Pups in the Park a couple of months ago. Manny was a little aggressive showing Gracie how excited he was that she was going to be spending the week with us. Luckily Manny’s hormones have since calmed down and we’re experiencing a lot of snoozy dog time. Gracie loves it when I have the camera out and always comes running towards it. Manny is clearly over my shenanigans.

RP and I had absolutely nothing on the books for this weekend and we were thrilled. The DC area has been slammed with a heat wave that is leaving the both of us feeling a little bit wilted. Aside from my run today (at 1pm, not sure what I was thinking) and a few errands, we’ve been waiting to leave the house until after the sun goes down.

Last night we were in the mood for a comedy, so we packed up our own snacks (inspired by Janae) and headed to the late showing of Horrible Bosses.

I was impressed that RP was ok with limiting our beverages to Coke Zero and avoided taking our canned beer stash.

We both thought the movie was hysterical. It was much funnier than we expected. RP is already looking to switch dentists. Apparently our dentist has nothing on Jennifer Aniston.

My sanity could have been called into question this afternoon after I took the hounds out for a quick walk. I decided that I’d show the heat index who was boss and head out for a run. I didn’t even bother with my Garmin because homegirl was going slow. I ran three laps around my neighborhood (about .8 mile loop) and then called it a day. The hounds were still recovering from their walk when I got back home and I joined them on the tile floor in the kitchen to cool off too. If only RP had been snappy with the camera. I’m sure it was attractive. The three of us were hot!

RP and I had planned to go use a Groupon at Ketchup in National Harbor and walk around to all of the surrounding stories tonight. However, it turns out you can’t use the Ketchup Groupon on Saturdays. Huge bummer. Lucky for us, we have an entire folder of Groupons (we’re suckers for a deal), so we headed to Union Street Public House for a quick dinner in Old Town. It’s an old favorite. Easy delicious dinner and close to paid for with the Groupon. Success.

We’re now watching the Nats game, listening to the dogs snore and enjoying the AC. Hope you’re having a great weekend and beating the heat. Word of advice, head out for a run early tomorrow or wait until after the sun goes down. 1pm was a poor choice.

p.s. Mags chopped all of her hair off this morning! Please help me pressure her to blog about it. It’s a huge change and as usual, she looks totally gorg!
